“Hamilton” Cast Owes Vice President-elect Pence an Apology

Vice President-elect Mike Pence may think “that’s what freedom sounds like,” but to me, it is incivility and disrespectful harassment directed at the Office of the Vice President of the United States of America.

This past weekend, Vice President-elect Pence and his family attended a performance of the Broadway show “Hamilton” and he and his family got more than just boos and jeers from the audience.

In a crass political move, after the final curtain call, a cast member called Pence back for a public lashing about how “alarmed” and “anxious” Leftist cultural elites are after the election.

In his statement, actor Brandon Victor Dixon lectured and harangued Pence saying, “We sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir.”

Apparently, Whites are not included in his protected classes.  The message was delivered by actors who went along with the obvious discrimination against White actors when the casting call specifically excluded Whites from auditions.

This is harassment directed at the Office of the Vice President. And, although Vice-President- elect Pence has a personal right to ignore it, every American who has respect for the Office itself, should express outrage at this incivility and harassment of Pence and his family who were doing nothing more than attempting to enjoy an evening together.

Dixon, himself a gay activist, follows in the footsteps of the show’s creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has teamed up with Senators Warren, Gillibrand, and Schumer, as well as President Obama to push his own agenda.

President-elect Trump is right: the cast of “Hamilton” owes Pence an apology.
