Our Nation’s first Thanksgiving occurred on November 26, 1789 when President George Washington asked the American people “to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits and humbly implore His protection and favor.”
And on Thanksgiving Day in 1985, President Ronald Reagan asked Americans to “keep this Thanksgiving Day sacred, thanking God for the bounty and goodness of our nation. As a measure of our gratitude, let us rededicate ourselves to the preservation of the land of the free and the home of the brave.”
Please pray for God’s blessings and protection over the men and women serving in our Armed Forces, standing the lonely guard, in rough and faraway places, so that we can freely thank God for His many blessings.
On this Thanksgiving Day, pray for the protection of our Nation and that Almighty God will guide us as we meet the challenges ahead.
God bless you and your loved ones. God bless America.
