It would be a huge mistake to politicize their appointments and promotions. We do not need the political officers (commissars) the Soviets had. It would cause a tremendous amount of distrust within the services and the JAG and Judge Advocate community. It should always be, "Marine first–Judge Advocate second." Should be the same for all lawyers in the other sister services.
